I fell in love with these tools while working on the job site. I experienced the way these tools perform in a very real world setting. I saw them dropped, exposed to elements, used to go through stuff I would have never thought battery operated tools could endure and they kept going.
When I bought my own circular saw, I tried going a cheaper route with another brand and ended up taking it back to the store and told them it was a piece of junk. I finally decided to bite the bullet and spend the money for the Makitas and I'm glad I did. Look out world, here I come! And with 18 volts of power I'll keep going.
The only "down" side to these tools that I've seen so far is that I think a half hour for charging is a bit optimistic. I guess its possible that just the waiting for batteries to recharge would seem to take forever no matter what. I have never timed the actual recharge time, so I can't speak definitively to the charging time.
The bottom line is that I bought these tools because of the way someone else's worked on the job site.
