Tools and Hardware Reviews of Makita AN922 Round Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing NailerCustomer Review: Excellent tool Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a professional framer, and very scared first time using such powerful tool, after reading all the warnings in the instructions. I purchased this nailer to remodel interior walls and punched more than 2000 nails in a single week. Not a single misfire, jammed nail or other incidents. Despite recommendations (as minimum hose of 3/8), I used a 150 psi/6 gal pancake compressor connected with a 1/4 hose with the operating pressure adjusted to 110 psi. The tool doesn't come with the hose barb and 1/4 adapter was required. while Using the tool, the small compressor will run after about 40-50 nails for 15-30 seconds. I used 16D nails 21 degree angle plastic collated, (recommended 22, but nowhere to find). The depth adjustment dial didn't work for me, maybe because of the different angled nails, but it is very easy to adjust the nail depth: simply press more or less against the surface to be nailed before firing. This method is not precise but important when you nail at the studs ends to avoid splitting. I used a hammer to flush finish the nails in these occasions. Operational pressure below 100 psi, won't drive the 16D nails all the way in. A professional framer will have probably different remarks, but I only wish the tool was a little smaller and the hose barbs included, other than that, perfectly satisfied.
